How to become a member

There are so many benefits to having a Darebin Libraries membership: access to borrowing books, access to Preston Library outside of standard opening hours, access to e-books and audiobooks through our digital library services, and more. Read below for more information on how to apply.

Join online

Complete an online membership form to access the online resources in our digital library.

Once you have registered, simply use the temporary ID and the 6-digit PIN you created to begin using our wide range of online resources.

Visit one of our libraries during opening hours to collect your library card and start borrowing physical items and using our other services. Make sure you bring ID with your full name and current address.

All membership applications persons under 18 must be signed by a parent or legal guardian.

Join in person

Visit any of our four branches to speak with a library staff to sign up and get your library card on the spot. You will need to bring ID with your full name and current address to sign up.

Join for Organisations

Schools, kindergartens, and nursing homes are eligible to join as organisations with expanded borrowing privileges.
