Amy Josephine Ford

Amy Ford born in 1902 in Stanley, Tasmania to Kenric Charles and Flora Constance Laughton. She married local Robert Ford and the couple moved to the mainland in 1933 and set up home in Preston. Robert stood for council and served as Mayor of Preston in 1952-3. Amy was also very active in the local community. Amongst her work she held office in the Preston Mayoress’ Guild, the Red Cross, the Royal Melbourne Hospital, the Royal Women’s Hospital, Ladies’ Benevolent Society and PANCH. Amy died in 1959, aged only 52.
