Looking for local history pictures? Search the Darebin Archives Collection today

Ever wondered what your house looked like forty years ago?  With the assistance of a grant from the Public Records Office of Victoria we have obtained over 1,800 images of Northcote houses and shops from the 1980s taken by local architectural historian Graeme Butler.  

To search our collection, open our Archives catalogue and type in your street name in the search box. You can also search by house styles such as Victorian, Federation, Edwardian and art deco. 

The Darebin Archives Collection will be launched at Northcote Library on the 26 April 2018 with a talk by local historian Cathy Dodson and an exhibition of selected images from the archives in the LibArt Room. 

Over the next year we will be adding many more local history images from the 1880s to the present day so keep coming back and check our latest additions.
