From 1 July 2025, members registered for Extra Access can access Preston Library for an additional 21 hours per week:
- 8pm-10pm on Weekdays
- 4pm-10pm on Saturdays
- 5pm-10pm on Sundays
- 10am-10pm on Public Holidays
Library staff are not on site during Extra Access hours. We know many people value the assistance provided by our staff. If you need support from a staff member, visit us during standard opening hours and we’ll be happy to help.
Use Extra Access to:
- work or study
- collect your reservations
- read a newspaper
- browse for books
- use a computer or access Wi-Fi
- print, copy or scan
- hang out and play board games
- enjoy the heating and cooling
How to sign up for Extra Access:
- Book an induction session.
- Attend induction and complete your application.
- We’ll upgrade your Darebin Library membership (conditions apply).
Then you can make the most of your Extra Access!
Note: You will need to access your email on a mobile device each time you use Extra Access. As part of the verification process, we email a one-time code which you need to enter at the keypad.
