Northcote Masonic Lodge

1 Bastings Street, Northcote

The Northcote Masonic Lodge was formally inaugurated on 22nd November 1903 at the Northcote Town Hall. There were 220 brothers present. The Deputy Grand Master was Brother Dr. Ballis-Headley. The Grand Lodge officers performed the ceremony of installing officer-bearers of the Lodge. The officers who performed the ceremony were;

S. W. Brother Lawrence,

J. W. Brother Swift,

S. D. Brother Dr. Sturdee,

J. D. Brother Berriman,

Chaplain, Brother Mawm,

Organist, Brother T. L. Taylor,

P. W.M. Brother Saunders,

Secretary, Brother T. Harry,

Treasurer, Brother E.T. Brown,

I.G. Brother Russell,

M.C. Brother J. Evans,

Stewards, Brothers Stott, Hayes, Wedgewood and Hotton.

After the ceremony, there was a banquet served by Brother Doige and staff. The banquet included toasts and “harmony” supplied by Brothers F. Davidson, R. A. Colenso, Turner, Rowe and Colsen.

The Northcote Lodge held their meetings at the Northcote Town Hall for many years. The new Masonic Hall at 1 Bastings Street was built in 1923.
