Explosions at Quarry Northcote Brickworks

At 11:30am on the morning of 1st June, 1954, an explosion at Northcote Brickworks Company resulted in large rocks hitting homes in Kellett Street and Christmas Street. The rocks, reported up to 20 pounds (approximately 9 kilos), tore through galvanised iron roofs, windows and gardens. The blast caused havoc with broken glass, fences and furniture. Luckily, no one was injured or killed.
