Nehemiah Wimble
(1829-1896)
Nehemiah Wimble was one of Northcote's early residents. Wimble was a senior member of the Colonial Civil Service on a salary of £100 a year and appears to have arrived in Northcote in the early 1850s. He married Edith Talbot Hewett in 1856 and the family lived in a small stone house at around 220 High Street before moving to a more substantial mansion, 'St Neot's' on Rucker's Hill at 14 Bastings Street, Northcote.
