McDonell Park
Victoria Road, Northcote
In 1922 the Northcote Council spent 4,250 pounds to buy twenty-one acres of swampy land in Victoria Road. Councillor Harry had suggested naming it using some of the language of the aboriginal tribes who were once owners of the land, but this view proved 'unfashionable' and it was named in honour of a former Councillor Angus McDonell.
