Leonard Weir

(b.1928)

Leonard Weir, like Margaret Nisbett, was a Preston born singer who founded a career from their singing. At age 18 Weir was selected to play the role of Faust in the National Opera Company. During the 1950s he toured New South Wales and New Zealand before deciding to make his career in London. In the mid 1950s Weir got his big break on the London stage when he was selected to play the role of Freddy, opposite Julie Andrews in My Fair Lady. From there, Weir went on to a successful career including concerts, cabarets and TV appearances. He currently resides in Spain.
