Marshall Brothers Co.

George Marshall and his younger brother James Doiley Marshall ran the Marshall Brothers Co. from 1885. They had a timber yard in Preston, located on the west side of High Street, just below Cramer Street. J. D. Marshall also had a carpentry business near the corner of Plenty Road and Bell Street Preston.

George Marshall was born in England and followed his father John to the diggings in 1856. His brother James was born in Victoria. The two brothers took over their fathers business in 1885 and were responsible for building homes in Williamstown, Epping, Diamond Creek, Thornbury, Preston and Northcote.
