Frederick Yann - Blacksmith and Wheelwright, Preston

(1840 – 1911)

Frederick Yann was born in Frankfurt, Germany in 1840 before migrating to Australia. He first settled on the Merri Creek, Campbellfield, setting up a blacksmithery, before purchasing a large block of land in 1878 between Junction and Seymour Streets, Preston, where he established a new business as a coachbuilder, wheelwright and blacksmith. Yann died in 1911 and was succeeded in the business by his son Fred jnr.
