Lord Robert Baden-Powell founded the Scouts in 1907 in the UK. Scouting in Alphington began in the 1920s. The original operated out of St Jude's Church and moved around the area. Dan Edgar was the scoutmaster. A mother’s club held events, such as carnivals, to raise fund for the building of a Scout Hall. In 1931, the Adams Street Scout building, built by Mr. Bishop, was opened. Alphington later became the 10th Northcote troop when Alphington came under Northcote council.
