Thornbury Baby Health Centre

Opened 1927

In November 1926, Northcote City Council accepted a tender at £1173 for the establishment of a brick building in Clarendon Street, Thornbury. It was to be the local baby health centre. The council had been renting a hall before they decided to establish a purpose-built centre. On 31st March, 1927, the Thornbury Baby Health Centre was opened at 3pm by Lady Somers. The building was designed to allow for older children to play while their infant siblings were seen to by the nurses.
