Leslie Alfred Swift
Private Leslie Alfred Swift (alias William Alfred Smith) of Mitchell Street, Northcote, was just 16 years of age when he died of wounds received in France in 1916. He has changed his name and raised his age, but eventually officialdom was able to identify him correctly. He enlisted in Keswick, South Australia and embarked HMAT Borda in June 1915 at Adelaide. He is buried in Sever Cemetery in Rouen, France. he was a brother of Private Thomas George Lionel Swift who was also killed in action.
