Harry Melbourne
Inventor of the Freddo Frog (1913 - 2007)
Harry Melbourne worked for the chocolate maker MacPherson Robertson of Melbourne. As a chocolate moulder in the 1930s, he suggested to his boss that he should make chocolate frogs instead of mice which, he pointed out, women and children were afraid of. Thus the Freddo Frog was born! Unfortunately Harry did not make a cent from his idea. Cadbury's now produce the chocolate treat. Harry and his wife Dorothy lived in the Summerhill Residential Park in Reservoir for many years and most of his surviving family live in and around Reservoir area.
