Hartley Rowland Walker
(1895-1972)
Hartley Rowland Walker was born to accountant Ernest Australia and Margaret Walker, residents of Preston. He was also the nephew Orlando Walker. After receiving an education at Miss Harrup’s Private School, South Preston State School, Scotch College and Melbourne University, Walker became a doctor. During the First World War he served as a medical officer on several ships in the Mediterranean. After the war, he established his surgery at 361 Bell Street Preston and remained there until his retirement.
