Gary Cosier

Gary Cosier, born in 1953, was an aggressive middle order batsman and useful medium pace bowler who debuted for Northcote at the tender age of 15. He would be a part of the Northcote Cricket Club’s premiership in 1973/74, when the club rose from last the previous season. Going on to play first class cricket briefly for Victoria and then for South Australia, Cosier ascended to the national team in December of 1975, hitting 109 on debut against the West Indies. He would go on to play 18 tests but was never able to establish himself as a permanent part of the team. He later played for Queensland before returning to Victoria to captain/coach Northcote in 1980/81.That season he won the Ryder Medal as the outstanding player in the district competition.
