Robert Broadhurst

Robert Broadhurst was born in Preston in 1884. His father, Thomas had established the Thos. Broadhurst tannery in Preston in the 1890’s. Robert had been running a tannery in Sydney when his father died in 1920. He returned to Preston and took over his fathers company. Under Robert’s leadership the tannery increased its staff from 80 to 150, with sales in England and New Zealand as well as the domestic market. In 1950 Broadhurst resigned his Managing Director position due to ill health. He died in 1953.
