Frederick George Pike Jnr.

(1894-1963)

Mayor of Preston (1938 - 1939)

Fred Pike Jnr. followed his father into the family business, a home decorating and hardware store in Plenty Road Preston. Pike was born in Preston and educated at the South Preston State School. During the First World War he enlisted in the A.I.F., having the misfortune to be wounded and captured by the German army.

Pike was elected to the Preston Council in 1934 and served until 1941, including one term as Mayor in 1938-39. He also was a member of the Preston Returned Services League and was president of that organization in 1939-40. Plagued by his war injuries, Pike died at the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital in 1963.
