Alfred Cecil Rowlandson

(1865 – 1922)

Alfred Rowlandson, who was educated at Northcote High School, was a book publisher in the early 1900s. Working for the New South Wales Bookstall company, he rose to the position of manager and, when the owner died, he bought the company. Rowlandson greatest achievement was making Australian authors accessible to the Australian public through the printing of cheap paperback novels. One of Rowland’s earliest successes was publishing Steele Rudd’s ‘Sandy’s Selection'.
