Bennett Street, Alphington

Bennett Street Alphington first appears in the street directories in 1925. It was named after Jim Bennett, who with Keith and Ross Smith, and Wally Shiers, became the first men to fly from England to Australia. They arrived in Australia on 10th December 1919, the flight having taken 27 days.

The first residents in the street were F. Clancy and Mr Swindon.
